GALVANISM

James --

January was an active month for GPTX. We filed with TX SOS to seek 2018 ballot access. Many Greens across Texas participated in the national Women's March activities including Harris County GP with the Houston Women’s March. Many Greens across the country spoke to our Green vision and platform at Greens speak out on the State of the Union. This series offers good insight into what it means to be Green.  The Green Party nationally offered it's response to Trump’s State of the Union.

2018 Ballot Access

We need local volunteers now more than ever! We need you to host March 13thconventions in your county and/or collect ballot access petition signatures!!GPTX will provide you with instructions, but we need to demonstrate the participation of voters all across the state to regain ballot access. We cannot do this without you!

Most importantly, everyone needs to know that voters must save their primary vote in order to sign the petition for minor party ballot access. This is not commonly acknowledged voter information, and we need awareness of this fact to spread so that more Green voters know how to show their support for GPTX. (Aside from becoming a sustaining supporter, which is always appreciated!)

GPTX will hold its State Convention & Meeting April 14th & 15th in Houston. Submission deadline for party business is February 28th, and for delegate lists March 20th. Members of the public may register to attend the event.

GPTX into 2020

As GPTX seeks 2018 ballot access with a limited number of statewide candidates, GPTX SEC has previously advised Greens interested in local and district offices to file as independents so that they will not be subject to the onerous statewide petition threshold of 47,183 physical signatures. Regardless of the 2018 ballot access petition outcome, GPTX will continue to develop the party by endorsing & supporting local candidates. In this way, we will clarify our Green Vision while we strengthen our internal processes and prepare ourselves to emerge stronger in 2020. GPTX needs your foresight & long-term support to continue to grow into the progressive political vehicle the people need.
