What is it? The WeTeach_CS Collaborative (WTCS) is a cohort of like-minded educators with the goal of improving K-12 education through innovative curriculum. WTCS provides intensive and sustained professional development (PD) at no cost for Texas teachers in the area of Computer Science, Coding, Programming and Computational Thinking. The purpose is to support current CS and STEM teachers and increase the number of certified CS teachers in Texas, in support of the nation’s CS for All initiative.
Who can apply? Any Region 2 teacher wishing to (1) increase their knowledge of computer science principles in order to teach a dedicated CS class and/or (2) integrate foundational skills like, computational thinking, within their current content. Priority will be given to teachers seeking to challenge the 8-12 Computer Science TExES examination however, current computer science teachers are encouraged to apply.
Who will be accepted? The WTCS collaborative will accept 30 teachers currently teaching in districts throughout Region 2.
When does this start? The grant period will run from January 15, 2018 to August 5, 2018.

Applications and commitment letters must be signed by campus and district administrators. Emailed, faxed, or hand delivered applications will be accepted. See application for specific instructions.
When is the deadline to apply? Complete applications must be submitted to the ESC-2 no later than 11:59 pm on January 5, 2018. Notifications of acceptance to the WTCS collaborative will be made by January 15, 2018.
